One of the best decisions I ever made was to become involved with Samaritans.  There is so much loneliness, isolation and despair in our communities and Samaritan volunteers are always available to provide warmth, compassion and personal connection.  The demand for Samaritan services, however, is greater than our ability to befriend everyone who is courageous enough to reach out for help.

 

Every fall Samaritans celebrates life through the amazing community that participates in our annual 5K Run/Walk and Family Festival.  “Run for Someone Else’s Life” has been the theme for reminding all of us that when others are unable to see beyond their hopelessness we can be there to help.  When individuals and families are personally touched by the tragedy of suicide, we can be there to support them in their healing.  

 

I hope you can join me in experiencing the joy that happens when compassionate people come together to remember and to resolve to do all we can to prevent more people from experiencing this pain.  If you can’t be there in person, please consider supporting us with a donation of any size.  All contributions make a tremendous difference in supporting Samaritans life saving services.
