Step Forward to Cure TSC - Wantagh, NY
Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
This past year has seen so much medical research and amazing outbreaks in the search for a cure for Tuberous Sclerosis Complex. From 2002, when Alexandra was born, to today 2011 is like night and day in the treatment of this horrible disease. Epilepsy is being treated with brain surgery that slows down seizure activity dramatically, which in turn returns brain function that was lost due to seizures. There is so much more that I could go on and on about.
This progress could not have been achieved without the support of each and every one of our friends and family that have supported our cause by sponsoring us on our walks and coming to our annual fundraisers. For those of you that dont know it, we broke records last year for inaugural walks for the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance raising close to $90,000. That total brings our 2 year total to $110,000. Team Captain AllyKate, Denise, Brendan, and myself thank each and every one of you for your support for donating and "Stepping Forward" to raise those funds.
That being said, Alexandra continues to progress. Sometimes it may seem like a very slow progression but any step forward is a positive thing in hers and our life. Unfortunately she still suffers from her daily seizures. Although during her most recent hospitalization, we were told that some of her "staring" episodes were not the seizures we though they were. There is still a neurological involvement but those "episodes" are just that. Not seizures. The tumor on her brain is still being monitored but is still not able to be removed. This year we were told that she also has formed a cyst on her kidney that will need constant observation. Ally is a trooper and keeps on smiling through it all. If only we could be as tough as she is.
Allys vices are still magazines and her favorite television shows and she loves spending time with her big little brother Brendan. Brendan watches over her like she is his own child. He is also quite the inspiration.
Please join us on Saturday September 24th, 2011 for our 2nd Annual "Step Forward to Cure" Tuberous Sclerosis Walkathon. If you cannot walk with us but wish to make a donation on this page our team greatly appreciates it. AND if you don't feel comfortable donating online you can mail a donation to
