Oddie came in to Guardian Angel Basset Rescue in 2001 with a severely deformed right back leg, major skin issues, and had been obviously physically mistreated. Oddie required $3000 worth of medical treatments and medication to be able to walk again and have a quality of life that was worth living!

Oddie had learn how to trust humans and to be loved for the first time in his life! Oddie had a way of "talking" to you and letting you know exactly what he thought about you or what you were doing to him! He would growl at you no matter what as you were feeding him, hugging him, kissing him, walking him, and just talking to him! He was a goofball that would make you laugh no matter what kind of day you were having!

Mark and I fostered Oddie when he first came in to rescue in 2001. He was adopted out for two years and then was returned because the couple was going through a divorce. Oddie then came back to us where he remained a permanent foster of Guardian Angel Basset Rescue and our beloved son/pet. He continued to battle skin problems, his leg increasingly became more difficult to walk on, and he suffered from Glaucoma in both eyes for two years that became worse as time went on. All of his medical care was paid for by Guardian Angel Basset Rescue throughout the remainder of his life. The picture to the left is Oddie on his 14th birthday which ended up being his last. Oddie could scare the pants off of anyone by growling or snarling at them at the right moment and he knew it! Those that knew him know that there will never be another one like him! (To some that may be a sigh of relief, not to us.)
