I am fundraising for the 7th Annual Pet Step, a dog walk fundraiser.  This event, to be held on Saturday, September 18th is a great event, fun for the whole family.  This year I am raising funds in honor of my dog Wilbur.  I got Wilbur as a puppy, he was only 12 weeks old when I adopted him from the ARL-NH.  A rambunctious pup, he tore my house apart, ate my couch and anything else that had any worth.  In his early days he went through four windows, two because he was scared of the wind and two to go out and play.  (As my roommate commented when Wilbur was licking the electrical outlets in the adoption room the day I took him home, "he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, is he?") 

Smart or not, Wilbur has been by far the absolute best family dog I could have ever hoped for.  He has been nothing but gentle and sweet to my children and even when my son was a baby, never jumped or barked around him.  He's polite, (sitting for any morsel of food he can con from you) and gentle when he takes any cookies or treats.  He shares his food with the cats by pushing it out of his bowl and over to each of three of them one at a time during his meal.  He lets himself get bossed by our grouchy Bulldog and lets me dress him for holiday photos.

Wilbur and I have gone through a lot, constantly battling other peoples' prejudices against his looks.  A constant battle for rights for this dog has followed us, including going so far as to get his Canine Good Citizen certificate so he could go on vacation with me. 

Wilbur is a great dog and I am proud to raise money in his name for this event.  Please help me raise my goal which will in turn help the Animal Rescue League of NH continue their care for the animals in the Southern NH communities.
