Hey guys, as you all know RBARI is a huge part of my life. It isn't just a job but rather a way of life for those of us who work here. It is about saving animals lives, everyday, in many ways. From pulling animals literally moments away from being put down in county shelters, to nursing sick and abused animals back to health, to even training our dogs to get them the best start they could possibly have going into their new homes.
RBARI is a very special place, we not only take in the cute little puppies and kittens that are so highly adoptable, but we take a chance on the animals that everyone else has turned their backs on. The ones that even other rescues will not open their doors to. The feral cat that may attack if you come near it,butwith the right love and socialization can turn out to be the sweetest pet. Or the Pit Bull from the streets that nobody wants to bother with. Which brings me to my boy Austin...
One day when I was picking up some dogs from the city pound to bring to RBARI, I saw the sweetest most soulful eyes staring up at me from a dark,cold cage. That my friends was who we came to know and love as Austin. He was slated for euthanasia, see when the county shelters run out of cage space, they have to start euthanizing, they have no choice. Austin was out of time, they needed his cage. Most rescues would not have choose to take in this pathetic, beaten up, scarred up, broken dog. When I looked into his eyes, I knew we(rbari) had to save him and give him that chance.
Austin was with us quite some time, unfortunately most people were not willing to give him the same chance we were and see what an amazing,loving, gentle boy he could be.Until oneday, his angel walked in the door and looked at him and saw the same thing I did. He is now in his forever home being loved and adored the way he should have been his whole life, now he finally knows what it is to have a real home and be part of a family. (Thank you Susan!)
So now I am asking you to help us save more Austin's and more like him that never had a chance, but given a chance, they will be amazing, loved pets. We rely soley on donations, so without people like you, we WOULD NOT exist. I know times are really rough, but honestly even just $5 helps....
