Hi! I'm Bruiser. I hope you can help me. I was hit by a car and was left in the middle of the road. Someone finally stopped and moved me, but still left me there to die. A nice guy saw this and picked me up and brought into the emergency vet so that I could be euthanized and not have to suffer.
But I got lucky because the folks from OKBR were there with another dog, and they saw my sweet face and couldn't bear the thought of me being euthanized - so they agreed to help out. I'm very thankful because I know how much doctors, surgery, and hospital stays can cost. I have a broken leg and I'm pretty scrapped up, but they say I should heal up just fine.
I'm very sweet, but still very sad - my little beagle tail won't even wag. But I'm sure that once I'm on the mend, I'll be the sweetest beagle boy you've ever met with a wagging tail to go with my beautiful brown beagle eyes.
FOSTER ME? They say what I really need now is a foster home so that I can recover and become the happy, healthy beagle that I am meant to be! I'm a tiny little guy, so I won't take up much room. If you might be interested in fostering me, please give the kind folks at OKBR a call! I'd really love to be able to go to a home once I leave the hospital, even if it is just a foster home!
ADOPT ME? Are you looking for a beagle buddy? I'll be available for adoption once I'm on the mend. If you're looking for a beagle buddy, check out OKBR's website and fill out an application!
VET BILL HELP? If you'd like to donate towards my vet bills, that would also be greatly appreciated. If OKBR can get some help in paying my bill, then they'll be able to help the next dog that comes in like me.

UPDATE: 4/23 - Because of your donations, Bruiser was finally able to have his surgery. He did well and is recoving. We still have a little ways to go to meet our goal to cover his bill, but your donation helped save a beagle today! Thank Aroo!
UPDATE: 4/27 - We have met our goal! Thank you so much for helping little Bruiser. He came home from the hospital this weekend, and is on the road to recovery. All the volunteers can't stop talking about how sweet this little guy is. They've even seen his tail wag!
One of our OKBR families has already contacted us to adopt Bruiser and he should be on his way to his new home soon. We will keep this page open in case anyone would still like to donate to OKBR. Bruiser has several friends that need help with their vet expenses as well.
UPDATE: 4/28 - Bruiser was featured in a local news story about our rescues. If you go to http://www.news9.com/Global/story.asp?S=10258527 you can see the article and a picture of Bruiser with one of the other dogs. If you click on the link "featured video" above the RockySpot logo, you can see Bruiser in action (and see his little tail wag!).
UPDATE: 5/1 - Bruiser is feeling better and heeling up nicely. He went to live with his foster family this weekend. Thanks for all your donations - any amount that was over our goal will be used to help out OKBR's latest pup in need, Muddy. You can see Muddy's FirstGiving page at http://www.firstgiving.com/okbrmuddy
UPDATE: 6/19 - We received the following note from Bruiser's foster family...
Bruiser is doing great - he is just the sweetest little puppy! In fact, we had our last follow up appointment at Neel Vet today. Bruiser's leg is healing wonderfully, Dr. Hicks sees new bone growth in the leg and he's walking, playing and running on it!
He has adjusted well to our family and our other rescue beagle, Queenie, loves to play with him! Those two will spend hours a day playing together as if they were life long buddies!
Bruiser is full of energy, attitude and personality! One of the funniest things we're seen him do is sneak into our pantry and drag the dog food bag out and all the way through the kitchen, even after he's eaten! Its a sight to see this tiny dog drag that big bag across the floor.
We hope to complete the adoption process by the end of the month! He has been a blessing to our lives and we want to thank everyone who helped Bruiser with his surgery and care!
