Karma Rescue: Help McGee
McGee is Karma Rescue's Featured "Cody Fund" Dog: The Cody Fund is an on-going initiative established to care for and rehabilitate those dogs with special needs.
Mr. McGee lived for quite some time as a stray in Anderson , IN in a small town just outside of Indianapolis before being picked up by animal control and brought to the Anderson Animal Shelter. When he arrived, Mr. McGee was in rough shape. He had fur loss due to what the vet believed to be a flea allergy, was emaciated, and it was also discovered that he suffers from seizures. Based on these circumstances and the fact that he is an older dog, approximately 6 years old, Mr. McGee was labeled as un-adoptable and scheduled to be euthanized within a short time of arriving at the shelter.
Fortunately, fate stepped in through a volunteer at the shelter who took notice of McGee when she passed by him and found that he had barely moved from his position the night before on the cold cement floor of his kennel despite having a very rambunctious kennel mate. When she bent down to check on this sweet guy, he look up at her with his soulful, loving eyes and it was then she knew that he just had to be saved and so she took it upon herself to ensure that his life would be spared. Since being rescued Mr. McGee has tested negative for heartworm, been neutered, and brought up to date on his shots. He has also been prescribed Phenobarbital to treat his seizures, a medication he will be required to take for the rest of his life (approximately $14/month for this prescription). In addition, Mr. McGee is currently being enrolled in Obedience Training.
Through a variety of connections, McGee's story came to the attention of Karma Rescue and it was determined that he would make a perfect candidate for the Cody Fund, which was established to help rescue pets with special needs and make certain that they find their true place in loving forever homes.
Funds raised for McGee through the Cody Fund will go towards treatment and medication for his seizures.
