As some of you may know, my sister-in-law MARY CAROLINE BALTAZAR was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2011. Mary had just moved back home to Baltimore and into a new home when she received the devastating news. As she recovered from surgery, bouts of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and continued with endless doctors' appointments, she was introduced to HopeWell Cancer Support Center by our dear friend Wileen Maniago.
HopeWell provides important support and educational services for adults, children, and families who have been impacted by cancer in the Baltimore area. These resources are at no cost to the participants. Hopewell’s many programs have really helped Mary and our family through this most difficult time and she found the weekly group support meetings to be especially uplifting.
In honor of Mary (and other family survivors) and in loving memory of all family/friends who have lost a loved one to cancer, I am running (ok, walking) along with my 35+ team mates (TEAM MCB) to help raise money for the center. TEAM MCB stands for "Mary Caroline Baltazar" and "Mary's Cancer Battalion".
I welcome your assistance for Hopewell (via TEAM MCB) and encourage you to participate in some way. Here are some suggestions for ways you can help:
-Make a donation. Please help me reach my goal by going to my page and donating. 100% of the proceeds goes to Hopewell and any amount is greatly appreciated. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
-Register for the event. Join TEAM MCB and walk, run or jog the 5K course. Sure, you have to get up early on a Sunday morning, but you get a cool long-sleeve shirt, great exercise, wonderful company, and you can go back to bed by 10am!
-Volunteer. Hopewell is still looking for volunteers to help with the race. Earn service learning hours. If interested, contact race@hopewellcancersupport.org or 410-832-2719.
-Spread the word! Forward this email to others who might be interested in learning more about HopeWell and how they can help.
Many thanks for your prayers and warm wishes for Mary. She is so touched and our family is very grateful for your friendship and love.
