10,000 mile Park Walk
Just three months after completing a 2,400 mile charity walk for the American Cancer Society, Don Stevenson began a 10,000-mile awareness walk for Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) in his hometown of Auburn, Washington. Don has teamed up with octogenarian triathlete Jack Meteyer. Jack has been a valuable asset by maintaining Don's "headquarters" at Auburn's Game Farm Park and acting as liaison with the HDSA. Don and Jack's original goals were to walk 10,000 miles and raise $10,000 for the HDSA. Don is averaging 30 miles per day and expects to celebrate making the original goals on April 22, 2008. But that won't be the end of this particular project! Now Don and Jack have added another 3,000 miles and $10,000 to the goals and Don will walk clear to the HDSA headquarters in New York City!! Expect to meet him there on September 15, 2008.
THIS HUNTINGTON'S DISEASE AWARENESS WALK IS DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF JACK'S NATURAL MOTHER AND THREE OF HIS SIBLINGS WHO DIED WITH THE DISEASE.
