Thank you for visiting my Polar Plunge fundraising page. As many of you know, my son Max (pictured here displaying his volleyball skills) used a walker until he was four years old because of all the surgery he had. Since the age of eight, Max has competed in basketball, bocce, bowling, floor hockey, golf, soccer, softball, snowshoing, tennis, track & field, and volleyball. There is no charge for any of these sports.
It has recently come to my attention that contributions to Special Olympics Illinois have dropped drastically due to current economic conditions. The Polar Plunge is now the largest fundraiser in our region. I wanted to do something to keep it there because Max's participation in Special Olympics has meant so much to him. So for the fourth consecutive year, I will be taking the Plunge.
Come see me freeze on Sunday March 4th at Twin Lakes in Palatine. The fun begins at 1PM. To get there, take Interstate 290/53 North. Exit Northwest Highway west (right at bottom of ramp). Turn right on Wilmette Drive (first right after the Indigo Hotel). Turn right on Twin Lakes Drive. Don't forget to take pictures, it may be the last time I ever do something this crazy!
They say anyone with a little guts and a warm heart can take the Plunge. I’m collecting donations from family, friends, co-workers and anyone else who wants to support the nearly 21,000 special needs athletes and more than 6,000 Young Athletes ages 2-7 of Special Olympics Illinois! Your donations will help provide these athletes the chance to participate in year-round sports training and competition.
To reward your generosity, I’m going to join more than 5,700 people statewide who will voluntarily jump into freezing cold water in the middle of winter as we take part in the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunges for Special Olympics Illinois. I guess you could say that I’m “Freezin’ for a Reason”!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to the LETR Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois.
Many thanks for your support – and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
