Daniel and I had an important requirement when searching for our forever mates over 5 years ago: MUST LOVE DOGS. Lucky for us, we found each other! What kind of dogs you might ask? We don’t discriminate. We love them all… although I have to admit nothing speaks to our hearts quite like a floppy-eared hound dog (and in my husband’s opinion – the bigger the hound, the better!). Long before the thought of children entered our minds, we decided we needed to do something to give back to the community. We tried various volunteer efforts, but nothing really spoke to our hearts until a co-worker of mine introduced us to the Henrico Humane Society. We were hooked! Wet noses and floppy ears abound! And even better than the company of pups, the organization’s mission really spoke to our hearts. Henrico Humane Society works to rescue animals from kill shelters in the area and place those neglected animals into warm and loving homes. The society does not have a permanent location (shelters are very expensive to build and maintain), but instead relies on ‘foster homes’ with volunteers.
This wonderful organization has been hit hard recently with astronomical medical bills. Luckily, it's time for Bark in the Park!! Bark in the Park is one of two big fundraisers the organization holds every year. Daniel and I will be volunteering at the event and helping with the Dog Walk. We would love your support in this event. I know things are tough financially for everyone these days, but every little bit helps (and keep in mind - your donation is tax deductible!).
**If you're in the Richmond area and would like to participate... by all means - come out on September 26th! We would love to see you there.
Thank you for considering a donation!
