UPDATE DECEMBER: We did it! We've reached the fundaising goal of $5,000! Don't stop...if you haven't yet made your donation, please know that it will be received with immense gratitude. UPDATE NOVEMBER: I completed the marathon in 3 hr 32 min. on what turned out to be a beautiful October day. I have the support of all of you to thank. I am running the Columbus, OH marathon on October 19, 2008 and I hope you'll help me in my efforts to support my niece, Josilyn (age 6), and all others who have Prader-Willi syndrome by making a tax-deductible donation to Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (USA).
This will be my fifth marathon in Josi's honor and I know that our efforts together create a lasting impact for PWSA (USA) based on the four marathons I already completed. With your support, we can together make a significant contribution to this worthwhile organization that advocates for those with PWS in every way. This is an effort that matters.
PWS is a complex syndrome that affects appetite, growth, metabolism, cognitive function, and behavior resulting from an abnormality on the 15th chromosome. The hallmark characteristic that can begin as early as 1 year old is an involuntary, uncontrollable, and insatiable appetite. PWS is the most common known genetic cause of life-threatening obesity. It is a life-long condition and currently there is no cure.
I love my niece dearly and I love being her "Uncle Rah Rah." She brings to our family so much joy. Going the distance for her is a privilege. I'll do the hard work of training and running for the marathon. I hope you'll use this easy online method to donate to PWSA (USA). It's simple, fast and totally secure.
