UPDATE DECEMBER:  We did it! We've reached the fundaising goal of $5,000! Don't stop...if you haven't yet made your donation, please know that it will be received with immense gratitude. The goal of $5,000 was a target, but with more, PWSA (USA) can do more and it is needed. Please make your contribution by Dec. 31 for a 2008 tax deductible donation. Of interest, one donor became the first for my marathon efforts to go for a matching gift from his company and it will double his donation! To all those who support me, Josi and PWSA (USA), thank you from the bottom of my heart!

UPDATE NOVEMBER:  I completed the marathon in 3 hr 32 min. on what turned out to be a beautiful October day. I have the support of all of you to thank. I hope to realize my fundraising goal (or more) soon. As you can see we're very close to making it. Thank you to those who have already made a donation. It's why I run this grueling challenge!  Maybe next year some of you will join me? :)

I am running the Columbus, OH marathon on October 19, 2008 and I hope you'll help me in my efforts to support my niece, Josilyn (age 6), and all others who have Prader-Willi syndrome by making a tax-deductible donation to Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (USA).

This will be my fifth marathon in Josi's honor and I know that our efforts together create a lasting impact for PWSA (USA) based on the four marathons I already completed. With your support, we can together make a significant contribution to this worthwhile organization that advocates for those with PWS in every way. This is an effort that matters.

PWS is a complex syndrome that affects appetite, growth, metabolism, cognitive function, and behavior resulting from an abnormality on the 15th chromosome. The hallmark characteristic that can begin as early as 1 year old is an involuntary, uncontrollable, and insatiable appetite. PWS is the most common known genetic cause of life-threatening obesity. It is a life-long condition and currently there is no cure.

I love my niece dearly and I love being her "Uncle Rah Rah." She brings to our family so much joy.  Going the distance for her is a privilege. I'll do the hard work of training and running for the marathon. I hope you'll use this easy online method to donate to PWSA (USA). It's simple, fast and totally secure.

To Josi, I offer love and support. To you, I offer thanks. It is with your love and support for my efforts that I keep moving toward the finish line.

 Thank you!

P.S.  Please share my web page address with others and let's see if we all can speed past my fundraising goal.

P.P.S.  Don't forget to check if your company offers a matching gift program. That will help a lot with fundraising, too!
