Take 3 minutes to read this, and it could change a life.
As you may know, last year I helped start a program called Team World Vision. I could not have dreamed up a better job for me than this. To help others participate in endurance events while changing the lives of children and communities in Africa. My life has truly been changed, and I am continually challenged to re-evaluate my priorities in life.
I am realizing more and more that my decisions have an impact on the lives of others. When I spend the money God has trusted me with on things I WANT, it limits my ability to give towards providing the things OTHERS NEED. In Matthew 25 Jesus tells us that whatever we do for "the least of these" it is just like we are doing it for Him.
I have a challenge for you. Consider what you might be willing to sacrifice so that others may have their basic needs met.
On September 9th I will be racing in my third Ironman Triathlon in Madison, Wisconsin. The Ironman is an incredible event that tests how far you can push your body physically. At 7:00 in the morning I will be getting into the lake to swim 2.4 miles with 2,000 other people thrashing around me. Then, I hop on my bike for 112 miles of hills. Following this, I will put on my running shoes and run a full marathon.... 26.2 miles. I have spent countless hours swimming, biking, and running over the past 9 months, preparing for this event. I have also spent countless hours thinking about and praying for the kids I got to meet in Ethiopia last summer. Not only the two children that Dani and I sponsor, but all of the kids... the ones we met... and the thousands that we didn't meet. They truly are waiting for our help.
Every day more than 29,000 children die, mostly due to preventable/treatable diseases and lack of clean water. World Vision works to tackle the root causes of poverty and provide sustainable solutions.
There are two simple ways that you can support my efforts:
1) Click the link in the text box below, and sponsor a child for $35 per month. If you think that you can't afford to sponsor a child... consider that simply giving up buying bottled water, a can of soda, or a cup of coffee everyday could help meet bring hope to a child.
OR
2) Click on the SPONSOR ME NOW button at the bottom of the page and make an online donation.
