Running for Africa

I'm crazy!   This summer I will be training hard for my first marathon.  I know what you're thinking.... "Michael, you're not a runner."  Well, you're right.  And I never thought I'd run a marathon.  But on October 7th I will be joining hundreds of others as part of Team World Vision-Willow to run the Chicago Marathon.

A group of people from my church (Willow Creek) are joining up to Team World Vision to run the Chicago Marathon and change lives in Africa.

In Africa, an entire generation is dying. Mothers. Fathers. Teachers. Farmers. Even pastors. Working men and women. Dead.

15 million children have been orphaned due to AIDS (That's around the same as the total number of high school students in the U.S.)

6,000 people die everyday of the disease.

In 2005 more than 2.8 million people died becuase because of AIDS - That's equal to a plague killing off the entire population of Chicago.

But this is not a hopeless situation. Not if people like us are willing to stand up and use their One Life to Do Something about it.

The funds raised by Team World Vision-Willow will go to support programs that transform the lives of the world's most vulnerable children and communities.

Will you please help us bring hope to these communities... to these children?

There are two simple ways that you can support my efforts:

1) Click on the SPONSOR ME NOW button at the bottom of the page and make an online donation.

OR

2) Click the link in the text box below, and sponsor a child for $35 per month

Thank you so much for helping us make a difference!

-Michael
