**UPDATE**
So I made it! Thank you to everyone that supported me! I survived and had a great time doing it. It was, needless to say, hard, but quite exhilerating! It was great to see all of the orange Team World Vision shirts out there :) Thanks again to my supporters. Thanks to your contributions many villages in Africa will have clean water to drink. If you are still considering making a donation, this webpage will be open until Jan 11th, 2010. You have made a difference!

Hello friends and family and anyone else that has stumbled upon this page ;)
I will be running my first marathon Oct. 11th in Chicago on behalf of World Vision! Perhaps I am crazy ;) but no better motivation than to run for the children of poverty stricken countries like Malawi or Zambia. I have been blessed with so much and can't even begin to imagine what it would be like to be afraid my child might die from a mosquito bite/malaria, starvation or unclean drinking water.
World Vision works to tackle the root causes of poverty by working with children, families, and their communities to provide things like clean water, health care, nutritious food, education, and economic opportunities. For more info. on world vision you can log onto www.worldvision.org or check out the video to the left. They are an incredible organization making big impacts across the world. Children that wouldn't otherwise have opportunities to get an education or even survive have been literally saved through their efforts. My goal is to raise $1500 in the next several months before the race.
To be honest, I am a bit apprehensive about running this long of a distance...but everytime I go for a run, or thinking about pulling through those last 10 miles on the 11th, I think about why I am doing it.
You can support my efforts through Team World Vision by making a one-time tax-deductible donation, any amount is appreciated! A little can definitely go a long way.
Thank you all for cheering me on, believing in me, and listening to my whoes of achy knees and feet. ;) It's all been worth it!
Thank you again for your support!
Blessings,
Serena
