Thomas Is Determined to Walk
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I VALUE your time greatly, and I appreciate you taking the time to look at this!
TOM WAS SOMEONE THAT EVERYONE LOVED.....
PLEASE HELP US GRANT TOM’S WISH!!
Tom was hit hard in a game of rugby in grade 12 and was unable to flex some of his muscles in his left leg. Doctors believed it to be a spinal injury but after months of physio and doctors visits, they had no improvement or inclination of what it may be. Thomas' family demanded a catscan to see if there was a problem with his brain after his inability to flex the muscles in his legs grew worse and spread to his left arm as well. The scan showed a brain tumor which began Thomas on his extremely long and hard journey of the past couple years.
BEFORE TOM'S ACCIDENT
Tom skipped grade 8 in middle school, so he graduated a year early at Cowichan Secondary in Duncan, BC. He was valedictorian at his grad ceremonies. He has played for national rugby teams and has traveled to play rugby tournaments all over the world. He was an amazing athlete, but that's not all he's amazing at. He is one the smartest people I know. He received extremely close to, if not the highest grades in his graduating class. He was also the lead singer of a band and was part of the theater group at his high school.
NOW...
He has gone through intensive cancer therepy and numerous surgeries in attempt to get him better. Doctors are still unsure of what the tumor is... They first believed it was non-cancerous, then thought it was lymphoma, and now are still unsure of what to call it. He has been at a rehab facility in Victoria learning how to walk and move again. Tom is in a wheel chair and has lost most of his vision from the invasive surgeries and therapies he's had to go through... but somehow is still the most upbeat person I know.
He is determined to get better and walk again, and never doubted it throughout his struggle. Tom's mom quit her job to take care and visit him, his dad works up island so he is unable to be at home as much as he'd like, so Tom's older brother does most of the running around for his younger brother who is still in high school. The family has been through a lot these past few years and has never asked for any help... even though they deserve it more than anyone I can think of!
WE JUST NEED TO RAISE $5000 MORE TO SEND THOMAS TO HIS DREAM EVENT WHICH IS TO WATCH THE ALLBLACKS RUGBY TEAM PLAY AT THE WORLD CUP IN NEW ZEALAND FRONT ROW! THE ALLBLACKS TEAM HAVE BEEN SENDING TOM MERCHANDISE, AND IS TAKING HIS FAMILY TO DINNER! THEY ARE REALLY EXCITED TO MEET HIM!
ALL I AM ASKING IS FOR 20 PEOPLE TO CONTRIBUTE $10 TO HIT MY GOAL! LESS OR MORE IS PERFECT TOO! PLEASE DON'T FEEL OBLIGATED, BUT IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE I'D LOVE TO RECEIVE A FIRED UP MESSAGE FROM YOU!! :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
