Sam Novey's Fundraising Page
Hi Friends,
My parents named me Sam, but most people call me Burgerman.
There are three things I love in life: b.good’s burgers. Running. And
education. Normally, when I try and make something better, I just
throw a little ketchup on it. But, when it comes to kids’ educations,
we need more than ketchup. It takes even more than some pickles and
secret sauce. It takes resources.
I know this because I’ve been working as a volunteer for the past
years for Citizen Schools and have taught 6th graders at the Edwards
Middle School in Charlestown. Citizen Schools is a growing national
network of after-school education programs for students in the middle
grades that complement classroom learning by engaging students in
hands-on projects led by adult volunteers after school and supported
by a staff of professional educators.
It works. And I know it does because I’ve seen the results in the kids
I've worked with over the last two years.
In fact, it’s something that I think is so powerful that I’ve decided
to team up with my favorite burger joint and my fast-food family to
run the Boston Marathon in this burger suit. Our goal is to raise
$100,000 which would make possible 20 classrooms like the one I'll be
teaching in this spring.
