Dear Friends,
As you may know.....I love my hair. In fact maybe a bit too much. But sometimes in life, you have to put aside your vanity for a greater purpose. That being said, I am shaving my head in an effort to raise money for children and their families fighting pediatric cancer. It's called the One Mission Kid's Cancer Buzz-Off and will take place on Sunday, June 3, at Gillette Stadium. All proceeds will benefit Children's Hospital Boston and the vital programs and services they provide to help kids beat cancer. This year's spokesperson is New England Patriots Tight End, Rob Gronkowski.
I have chosen to shave my head because the toll pediatric cancer takes on patients and their families is profound. Kids have to endure painful treatments and lengthy hospital stays while their families cope with unimaginable stress, anxiety, and financial strain. Your generous support will assist One Mission in funding vital programs and services that bring help, hope, care and support to pediatric cancer patients and their families. In addition, all of my buzzed off hair will be donated to the Locks of Love organization.
When I was 26 years old, I had to battle cancer myself. Each week of my treatment, I would walk through the halls of Children's Hospital and the Jimmy Fund to see the sick children. I thought I was going there to inspire them, to show them how well I was doing, and to put a smile on their face. What happened was the opposite. They inspired me, and put a smile on my face. Now I want to give them something back, and I need your help.
Donating through this website is simple, fast, and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts . Many thanks for your support -- these kids are our future. They are so beautiful, and have so many wonderful things to offer this world. Whether you give $10, or $10,000, I don't care. It doesn't matter. Every dollar makes a difference.
Please sponsor me. If you do, you get to make fun of the vain bald guy. But more importantly, you can help save a kids life, or simply just make their lives and their families lives easier and more enjoyable. Don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too. Help me reach my goal, and help these kids live the kind of lives they deserve. Kids lose their hair when they have cancer. I want to show them that it's not only okay not to have any hair, but that it's cool too.
Thank you so much.
Sam
