RideForKiva
Welcome to Matt Sepulveda's RideForKiva fundraising page!
ABOUT THE RIDE: Matt Sepulveda is cycling from Patagonia, South America to California, North America, to raise money and awareness for Kiva.org. He rides approximately 50 miles a day, rain or shine. He carries about 50 pounds of gear on his bike that allows him to camp, cook his own food, and repair flat tires. He also stays in hostels and eats delicious local food at restauraunts along the way. Sometimes he takes time off to stay in one place for a while, or just to see typical tourists sites like beautiful beach towns or mountaintop ruins. And sometimes he stumbles across uniquely forgotten places that seem to exist only in the hidden corners of the world. This is more than a ride home-- it is a journey of self-discovery and an attempt to understand better the world-- and the people with whom we all share it. Poverty isn't the only problem affecting Latin America-- it is a lack of opportunity. So Matt has chosen to help provide opportunities through the non-profit Kiva.
ABOUT THE CAUSE: KIVA.ORG: I joined a team, called RideForGood, that encourages its teammates to raise money for good causes. I chose Kiva.org because I like the idea of donations directly funding projects for people and families in need. Not only that, but most of the time the donation gets paid back, because it isn't just a donation, it's part of a micro-fanancing donation structure that helps families get ahead.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to share this page with anyone who you think might be interested in my ride!
