AMBASSADOR 4 VICTIMS OF LANDMINES
Dear friend,
Landmines reportedly maim or kill around 20,000 civilians every year. About one third of all casualties are children.
Mine action is close to my heart and is one of the foreign policy priorities of my country - Slovenia (www.mzz.gov.si, www.slovenia.info).
I was running a half-marathons in Austin, TX on February 18 and in Knoxville, TN on April 1. My very first full Marathon is coming on May 20 in Cleveland, OH.
I am raising funds for a project on rehabilitation of six child victims of landmines from Bosnia-Herzegovinas. I have to raise 38,144.33 USD.
The U.S. Department of State is supporting the project by matching the funds. I also have the support of the US senators Lugar and Harkin.
The project will be realized in cooperation with the Marshall Legacy Institute(more info to the left of the page) and the Slovenian-based International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance - ITF(www.itf-fund.si).
No donation is too small. Donating through this site is simple, fast and secure.
Many thanks to more than 80 people who have contributed so far. Your support is keeping me motivated for the runs.
Yours,
Samuel Zbogar, Ambassador of Slovenia to the United States
