A new year, a new discipline and a new cause to raise money for...
After walking to fight AIDS/HIV and running a half marathon to support the American Cancer Society it was about time to switch disciplines and find another worthy cause.
During the Tri4Women training program I met Brooke, who is racing 10 triathlons in 2010 to raise 10000$ for the Flying T Youth Ranch.
The ranch is located in Livermore and has the following program:
The heart of the Flying T Youth Ranch is to provide a safe environment for children to grow and develop character. We do this by partnering one leader, one horse, and one child each session. We believe this personal learning environment helps build up the child in all areas of life, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. We recognize each child is unique and we at the ranch work to determine the individual's needs. We do all of this for every child…free of charge.
Why do I support the Ranch ?
Growing up I have spent a lot of time around horses and know very well how good it can be to have a big, furry, four-legged, friendly and very patient friend. They are great to get some exercise, to learn responsibility and, most importantly, they will listen to everything one has to say.
How does it work ?
Easy, I swim, bike and run, you donate, kids ride !
Technicalities:
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Chevron people, please do not forget to double your impact by matching the donation on the Humankind Website!
Before you leave...
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
