Allie's Allies Buddy Walk Fundraising Page
*** 10/13/10 - Just a quick update to say THANK YOU! You all are helping out so much. The walk is just days away and Allie took 3 steps twice in a row last night, so she is ready and we are so excited at her progress!! Thank you for your love and generosity! Sandy Lovell***
Hello! Thanks for visiting our fundraising page. This is the fastest and a totally secure way to help raise funds for our team, Allie's Allies. Thank you so much for your support in bringing Awareness and Acceptance for those with Down syndrome. Thank you for being an Advocate for Allie.
By supporting our Buddy Walk, you are contributing to the continued development of the Adult Down Syndrome Clinic in Birmingham (one of only a few in the nation). Unfortunately, as people with Down syndrome age, their current doctors are not equipped to handle nor do they understand the many differences people with DS have with regards to medical needs. Raising funds for this facility to practice and teach others of these medical situations is vital for a long and healthy life for those with Down syndrome. Funds also go toward the Parent Support Group which provides support, guidance, seminars and social events for those in Birmingham and surrounding communities.
This will be Allie's 3rd Buddy walk - and most certainly her first where she will WALK. We may still be holding hands to do the walk and she may not make the whole thing, but she will be walking! Will you walk with us? We'd love to have a large team with us on Sunday, October 17th to support Allie and all those with Down syndrome. There will be activities for all the kids in your life -from bouncy houses to face painting and music. This is a great opportunity to help the children in your life learn about differing abilities and acceptance for all. If you can't attend, will you consider making a donation - in any dollar amount?
