As most of you know, my cousin Emma who is now 4 1/2 years young has SMA.  This walk is very important to me and my family to help raise money to promote research to find a cure for SMA. 

I had genetic testing done when I was pregnant with my son Rocco and found out at that time that I am a carrier of the SMA gene.  Therefore, there is now a chance that both of my children are carrying the same gene.  This won't affect them directly, but it could affect their children someday.  We are hopeful that by the time that day comes, there will be a cure for SMA and this yearly walk will help to ensure just that!
