Thank you to everyone for your donations and positive thoughts! Because of your generosity I was able to meet and beat my goal of raising $1500 for Phoenix Children's Hospital. The race was a blast and, despite a slight hip problem and a chest cold the last few weeks, I finished the race feeling strong! My final time was 2:08:57 (see marathon.azcentral.com for race results).
Thank you, also, to Alise and her family for being such an inspiration to me. You guys rock and I hope to keep in touch!!!
XOXO,
Sarah

Hello and thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I am running the PF Chang's Rock-n-Roll Arizona half marathon on January 17, 2010. I've run this half marathon twice before but this year I’m extremely excited to be running in honor of a Phoenix Children’s Hospital patient as part of the Miracles In Motion team. Miracles in Motion raises vital funds for Phoenix Children’s Hospital (PCH).
For the January 2010 event I am training, racing and raising funds in honor of an amazing little girl named Alise.
Alise is a 6-year old little girl who loves the color pink, adores armadillos, and wants to be a ballerina princess when she grows up. Alise was diagnosed before birth with a serious heart defect- the right side of her heart did not develop. She was born prematurely and immediately transferred to PCH, where they took excellent care of her. She was in the neonatal ICU for several months, then to pediatric ICU, as she underwent several surgeries to (1) help her heart keep functioning, (2) help her airway open, and (3) help her eat and swallow food. She began working with physical, occupational, and speech therapists at PCH, and has been treated by GI doctors, pulmonologists, cardiologists, infectious disease specialists, feeding specialists and a host of other professionals. Alise has now had three open heart surgeries at PCH, and continues to see doctors as an outpatient. During her first years, she was a frequent visitor to the emergency room, as her medical frailty turned simple illnesses into life threatening conditions. While still more fragile than other children, Alise has progressed to the point where she is in school with other kids her age. She still has a long way to go, and many obstacles ahead of her, but with the support and dedication of the staff at PCH, her family is confident that she has a very bright future.
I am asking for positive thoughts and donations for my honor patient and Phoenix Children's Hospital, in whatever mix you feel is appropriate.
All of the money raised by Miracles in Motion will go directly towards patient care. Your tax deductible donation allows PCH to provide specialized care to Arizona's most ill and injured children. Every dollar counts so please give as little or as much as you can. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.
Thank you for your support! Please forward to anyone who you think might want to donate as well.
Many thanks,
Sarah
