Thank you for visiting my page.  I work for Columbia Legal Services (CLS), a nonprofit  law firm that protects and defends the legal and human rights of low-income people. CLS represents people and organizations in Washington State with critical legal needs who have no other legal assistance available to them.  For more information, please see www.columbialegal.org.

CLS is part of the Alliance for Equal Justice, a coalition of Washington legal services providers working to address the critical legal needs of low-income people.  The Moses Lake office is home to three Alliance partners: CLS, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, and Grant-Adams Volunteer Legal Services.  Together the office provides legal services related to housing, employment, immigration, and family law.  Some of the Moses Lake CLS office's biggest achievements this year have been: advocating on behalf of individuals who have been taken advantage of by employers, landlords, and home-sellers; educating hundreds of people about their housing and employment rights; and keeping a manufactured housing community open (despite efforts to close it down) and working with the tenants to improve living conditions for the dozens of families that live there. 

The need for legal services far outpaces the resources available to CLS and all other Alliance members, especially in this time of economic crisis.  People are being forced into poverty across Washington.  All Alliance members are working at maximum capacity, but plenty of people still need support to stop workplace abuse, to advocate for a healthy place to live, to obtain a divorce from violent spouse, and more.  People who could once afford to hire attorneys are now becoming our clients---at the very time legal service providers are facing an unprecidented funding shortage.
