Over the last 10+ years we have watched our father, Rodney, a Vietnam Veteran, former Utah County Deputy Sheriff and father of four, slowly deteriorate from Huntington's Disease. We have watched him loose his ability to care for himself, reason, communicate and walk.
Huntington's Disease (HD) is a devastating, hereditary, terminally degenerative brain disorder for which there is, at present, no cure or treatment. HD slowly diminishes the affected individual's ability to walk, talk and reason. Eventually, the person with HD becomes totally dependent upon others for all care. HD profoundly affects the lives of entire families -- emotionally, socially and economically. Children of an HD parent have a 50% of inheriting the gene, leaving many families having to care for multiple affected family members.
Scientist have made significant strides in recent years and a cure is a hopeful possibility within the next decade.
Your donations will help fund this research and help HD families get the support they need.
