On April 16th I am going to be running in my fourth Boston Marathon to raise money for NF Inc. Northeast.   The mission of Neurofibromatosis, Inc., Northeast is to find the cure for NF by promoting scientific research, creating awareness, and supporting those who are affected by NF.   This is a cause that is very close to my heart because, as many of you already know, my oldest son Max is living with this disorder. 
 
Max is a remarkable person that has lived his entire life with a disorder that has created many obstacles for him.  He has some learning disabilities but he works so hard that he consistently makes the honors list at school.  He has fine motor skill issues that make it very difficult for him to hand write his school work so that it can be read.  So, instead, he has taught himself to type on a keyboard faster than most adults.
 
As a parent it is very rewarding and inspiring to see Max have successes in these areas but it is also heartbreaking to see how difficult the road is that he travels every day.  I can't even imagine how tiring it must be to live in his skin.  So this is why I am challenging myself to raise more money and run the marathon faster than I have before.  My goal is to raise $3,000 and finish in under 5 hours.  (For some perspective my other 3 finishes were 5:55:21, 5:21:29 and 5:33:20)
