Scott McKenzie's Children's Heart Foundation Page
My name is Scott McKenzie. I will be running the Walt Disney World Marathon on January 10, 2010 to raise money for the Children's Heart Foundation in honor Cain Austin Clinkscales. Cain was born with multiple congenital heart defects including Tricuspid Atresia, Hypoplastic Right Ventricle, Ventricular Septal Defect, Transposition of the Great Arteries and a small aortic valve. The Children's Heart Foundation is "the country's leading organization committed solely to raising money for congenital heart defect research."
Facts about congenital heart defects can be found on their fact sheet.
So, a little bit about myself. I've never run a marthon. I've never run a half-marathon. I've never even run a 10K or 5K race. When I decided to run for charity, I chose to go ahead and go with the full marathon because of the sacrifice and suffering required for a novice to prepare for such an event. It doesn't come close to the sacrifice and suffering experienced by the patients and families affected by congenital heart defects; but, I hope that my sacrifice inspires you to donate. Whether it be 5, 10, 20, 100, or 1000 dollars your donations are greatly appreciated by the children and adults affected by congenital heart defects.
I will also be raising money for The Special Operations Warrior Foundation; so, if you would like to donate to that charity click here.
You can also follow my progress through my blog.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Thank you for your generosity,
Scott McKenzie
