Scott McKenzie's SOWF Page
Hello, as I am sure you know, my name is Scott McKenzie. I am running the 2010 Walt Disney World Marathon to raise money for two charities. The first is this one- the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. This 4-star charity "provides full scholarship grants and educational and family counseling to the surviving children of special operations people who die in operational or training missions and immediate financial assistance to severely wounded special operations people and their families."
So, a little bit about myself. I've never run a marthon. I've never run a half-marathon. I've never even run a 10K or 5K race. When I decided to run for charity, I chose to go ahead and go with the full marathon because of the sacrifice required for a novice to prepare for such an event. Does this compare to the sacrifice that our fallen heroes and their families have made? Hell no- not even in the same universe- but, there is some degree of sacrifice associated with a beginner preparing for this event that I feel may inspire potential donors to give. So, I hope you will help me reach my goal with a small donation to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Whether it be 5, 10, 20, 100, or 1000 dollars, your donations will be greatly appreciated by the sons, daughters and other family members of our fallen heroes.
If you would like to consider donating to the other charity I am running for, The Children's Heart Foundation, please click here.
You can also follow my progress through my blog.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Thank you for your generosity,
Scott McKenzie
