3rd Annual Ager Golf Marathon
On October 21, 2011, 40 players will attempt to play as many holes as possible in the 2011 Jim Ager Memorial golf marathon. Our ultimate goal is to replace a very outdated and crippled irrigation system that is as old as the golf course at a cost of $80,000! We are almost a third of the way there and that includes putting a new roof on the building last year. This is a crucial step for our facility to continue providing excellent junior golf opportunities at one of the finest junior golf programs in the nation.
The Jim Ager Memorial G.C. has been a valuable asset to Lincoln and the surrounding areas for over 40 years. We prepare not only junior golfers, but beginners of all ages to graduate on to the areas 18 hole golf courses with the skills and knowledge they need to make the transition. Above all, we stress the importance of etiquette, safety, and the rules of golf. We teach our players that golf is a game of honor and respect and that these same values should be followed in other areas of their lives. You can check out our home page at: www.agergolf.com to learn more about our golf course.
The Jim Ager Memorial may have a few programs you didn't know about. We are the home of Lincoln's Special Olympics golfers who are currently preparing for their next competition. We also teach the physically handicapped in a program associated with the Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital. The Ager is also home to "Sticks For Kids", a free 3 day golf clinic for under privileged children and many other golf clinics all at no charge.
We still need participants who are willing to take pledges and play golf all day on the 17th. But, you can help right now by making a donation here on the website - your donation is tax deductable.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts. Please don't hesitate contacting us at (402) 441-8963 or just stop by the course at 3761 Normal Blvd in Lincoln.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
