SCU EMS: Fundraising for Japan Disaster Relief
Santa Clara University Emergency Medical Services is a volunteer student organization that provides after hours care for the campus community. We are certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who assess injuries and/or illnesses and refer the patient to the appropriate health care provider.
As a squad, we are coming together and committing our time to support relief efforts in the aftermath of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. We are raising funds for AmeriCares, a nonprofit disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization that provides immediate response to emergency medical needs for all people around the world, irrespective of race, creed or political persuasion.
AmeriCares and its relief workers in Japan are working on aid convoys to Sendai, the largest city nearest the impact zone, to help survivors of the record 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami that struck on March 11, 2011. The largest natural disaster in Japan's history has destroyed entire coastal towns and the government has confirmed that nearly 22,000 people are dead or missing. Freezing temperatures, power outages, fuel shortages and concerns about radiation exposure continue to hamper relief efforts in the devastated northeast region.
By making a donation, you can become a sponsor of our squad and provide support for Japan disaster relief. These donations will go directly to the AmeriCares foundation in hopes of improving relief efforts in Japan. As for our part, we promise to dedicate ourselves to this cause by doing all that we can to raise money and spread awareness about the situation in Japan and the relief efforts put out by AmeriCares.
Any donation amount is greatly appreciated and will put us one step closer to our goal. Thank you for making difference and showing your support!
