Fight Cancer
My father, Dr. Tom Murphy, was known as a highly-skilled doctor who treated people suffering from blood cancers such as leukemia amd lymphoma. Dr. Tom is best remembered, however, as the doctor that many patients loved and he is missed by many. It is a bitter irony that he became ill with multiple myeloma and died last year after a long fight. I am now raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and believe that myeloma will be defeated during my lifetime. The Society and I hosted a golf tournament earlier this month (May 2005) and are thrilled that we raised more than $146,000 in corporate donations in a single day! However, to reach the goal I have set in my father's name, I continue to need the support of friends like you. Next, I am completing a series of 3 triathlons to raise additional funds. One of the three triathlons is over -- I placed second overall with the fastest time in the swim! I have 2 to go and will complete them both by June 18, 2005. With your help, I will meet my goal, which I intend to translate into research fellowships at two of the nation's leading medical centers, both of which were intimately involved in my father's treatment and education -- the Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard and Georgetown's Lombardi Cancer Center. Thank you for any help you can be.
All the best. Sean.
