We are a no-kill shelter, which means we will defend and fight for every life that crosses our path. Our valued volunteers and friends share and support this belief and we currently are holding this online fundraiser to help us pay for some very steep medical bills the shelter has recently incurred.
Pretty Girl is still fighting for her life, therefore we are putting this fundraiser in her name. Our recent medical bills are listed below, along with their story. Your donations will go directly to pay for these outstanding bills.
Pretty Girl was found by a volunteer on July 26, 2011 giving birth. She was very skinny and extremely ill. Unfortunately,she lost 3 of her 5 babies. She was taken to MECA (emergency vet) and they found she had an upper respiratory problem and had Pyometra (a life threatening uterine infection). Pretty girl under went an emergency spay to save her life. Her foster mom gave her surviving two babies to another mom who was still nursing and they are doing OK!! Pretty Girl is still very ill and we are working hard to nurse her back to health. Current bill is $1100.00
Larry (baby kitten) contracted pneumonia and to save him it was $686.
Happy (cat at shelter) developed a blockage which required an emergency visit $254.
Mouse (long term resident) developed diabetes and she had a reaction to her insulin and in order to save her life she needed to be at the emergency vet -- to save her was $722. She is doing great now, but gave us a scare!!!
Nikki (in foster care) became ill and an emergency trip was needed, her bill was $545. She is also doing great now!!!
Pudgy Pie while pregnant became very ill which required hospitalization. Her bill was $536.
We are asking our trusted volunteers and valued supporters to rally with us, to raise money for our life saving efforts.

Thanks to Steve & Sharon, their last donation put us to 102% of our goal! WOOHOO! We are just so grateful and overwhelmed by the support of every single donation received in this fundraiser-words just can't express! THANK YOU! 8/26/11: Pretty Girl is healing very well from her surgery. She is doing well and her stomach problems have settled down. She still takes care of her baby but do part the two often to give her rest. The baby has been named Squimmely. Squimmely is eating well and she is being bottle fed. Happy to report she is gaining weight but she is not growing as well as we think she should so her fate is still unknown. PLEASE VISIT OUR FACEBOOK PAGE FOR NEWLY ADDED PICS!!

8/9/11: with a heavy heart, it saddens us to report that Pretty Girl lost another baby. One of her babies is still fighting. PLEASE not only send donations to help, but also send thoughts, prayers and positive energy at this time!
