Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who donated. We couldn't be more pleased! We are officially ending this page, but wanted to MEOW one more time! The Great 8 are still available for adoption, please keep spreading the word. Special thanks to Greg Sniadach for suggesting we do this. It was a fabulous idea that manifested into great support for our shelter!
4/20/09: SPECIAL MEOOOOW TO ANOTHER FABULOUS DONOR! Thank you "Lucy, Dylan & Favre"...you are just awesome and we can not thank you enough. Well, I also know you've sponsored some favorites of mine too, we hold a special place in our hearts for you. :>Once again thank you, those words seem so small, please know we are speechless again.
4/18/09: I hope you all get a chance to see the new video we have posted. Yes, we know it's not the best, but Ziek was running the camera and having no thumbs makes for a shaky view! Then Mr. Peepers kept making faces at Susan when taping and made her forget what she was saying. Well, we didn't want to pay a professional to do this, so we made a cat do it! They were willing to help the 8, we couldn't say no! Please keep forwarding and many many thanks! :>
4/1/09: Special meow THANK YOU to Maureen. Her ultra-fabulous donation of $500.00 has blown our minds! We are truly grateful and lost for words. You are valued by the Great 8 and SHP!
3/20/09: WOW! We are doing awesome! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! YOU are making a difference. We aren't done yet-keep forwarding to your family & friends to help us reach our goal! WE CAN DO IT! Check out our Great 8 plug on The Morning Blend TV Show : http://www.themorningblend.com/NewsArticle/tabid/1474/xmid/30502/Default.aspx
RESCUE
Roughly 20 cats were rescued from an abusive home two years ago. Most of them were never touched by a human and their living conditions made for a garden of illness. Their conditions were beyond disturbing as they were found lying in their own feces and were malnourished. Even though found in a home, their disgraceful environment raised them to be the equivalent of a feral cat.
Second Hand Purrs(SHP) rescued these animals with dreams to give them a better life. Most have found new homes since being rehabilitated at SHP. Unfortunately, eight of them have still not been adopted and WE ARE ON A MISSION!
RENEW
The Great 8 as we call them have come a long way! FREEDOM, ROSCOE, REX, ROXY, DALLAS, PATTY, CALLIE & CALVIN are currently living at SHP and still dream of a healthy home & life. They have gone through health rehabilitation and are still on their journey of mind rehabilitation. Most of the remaining eight are on the shy side and still haven’t been able to completely trust humans. But all of them share a common bond of having an adorable heart and have the makings to be an awesome friend to the right human!
LOVE
Because of the neglect and abuse they suffered, most of these cats created a large vet bill to bring them to their current healthy state. Today some of these cats remain on special food and some still suffer from medical issues. Since the rescue, SHP has incurred a combined total of over $3000.00 in fees for their care.
SHP is a non-profit, no kill cat shelter and run solely by volunteers. We survive by your donations and the great human spirit to combat animal abuse and neglect. Currently the shelter is gearing up for a heavy kitten season and as the current economic crisis affects us all, we struggle to obtain the funds necessary . Please help us today by donating to our Great Eight Fundraiser! We hope that this fundraiser will give SHP the money it needs to continue the fight.
By donating today, you will be saying NO to animal abuse and neglect and become proactive in the fight! Please forward to all your friends and family to help us get the word out and hopefully, by the power of E-Mail, we will locate homes for each of the Great 8 as well!
