Seth Bowden's Page
Thank you for visiting Seth's fundraising page! I can't believe this is going to mark his 5th year at Autism Summer Camp.
For those who don't know our story and how far Seth has advanced this past year, let me give you the abbreviated version. This past fall, Seth's behavior declined to the point that his doctor made the decision to completely switch up his meds. Within 4 days, his behavior spiraled out of control causing him to be very violent, mostly towards me (his momma) and I had to make a heart wrenching decision to have him hospitalized. He spent a week in Baptist Behavioral Medicine Unit and it's the best thing I could have ever done for my boy. We have him on the right meds, he is talking more and in his teacher's words, he has gone from the worst kid in class to model student. He even won Student of the Month in November because his behavior improved that radically. I can't wait to see how much more he can advance at camp this summer!
Since 2007, Autism Pensacola has put on an intensive summer learning lab for individuals on the spectrum. For parents, summer break can be a time when progress made during the school year is lost. But children and teens at Kids for Camp continue the learning process all summer long. And, just as important, local teachers turn their summer vacation into a time to gain valuable knowledge on best practices in teaching individuals with autism.
API is now holding its “Friends & Family” Campaign. Our family is asking you to consider joining us in helping Seth and his friends spend the summer learning at Kids for Camp 2012. All proceeds from this campaign will reduce families’ costs for camp. Our goal is to raise $1,000.
