Shannon will be taking a back seat to John Thompson (on a motorcycle that is :), when they hit the Beartooth Highway Aug. 22-23 to raise money, awareness and support for Special Olymics Montana in the RIDE FOR RESPECT!
Special Olympics is a life changing experience for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The Games provide opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and share their gifts. With more than 12,000 candidates, Special Olympics Montana has been able to support 2,000 athletes in the Summer Games, Winter Games and State Basketball Tournament each year.
Their goal for 2012, is to support as many as 3,000 athletes who will compete in the State Summer Games in Billings in May 2013. Your contribution to the RIDE FOR RESPECT will support athlete training and help them achieve their goals to compete.
It is important to note that while Special Olympics International makes a small contribution, Special Olympics Montana is 99.9% privately funded.
Your support truly improves the quality of life for these individuals. Can you place a dollar value on confidence, self-seteem, or something as simple as, not being aftraid to make eye contact? It is energizing to see improvements as small as being able to order off a menu to strides that empower them to enter the workforce!!
Imagine the thrill for family members when they see their loved one spring to life!
A contribution of any size truly makes a difference. Change a life.
Special Olympics Montana manages administrative costs, so no less than 75% of funds raised are delivered to athlete directed programs! Special Olympics Montana provides year-round sports training and opportunities for athletic competition to children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
