Wow!  Thanks so much!  After my last email for the walk went out, we went from being less than half of the way to our goal to $1 away!!!!  OVERNIGHT! You guys rock!

Here we go again!!!

September 26, 2009.  32nd annual Walk for the Animals

This will be the 7th year we've walked. We're very excited to have the walk return to the Reading Phillies Stadium.  Last year we raised a total of $400 thanks to you!  This year with the economy, we just want to beat that amount so if we reach $401 we'll be grateful! ...we can't do it alone!

Not only will our little boys be walking with us (And of course Lacey Dog), Shannon will be 9 months pregnant.  In fact, the walk is one day before her due date.  Luckily the hospital is only a few minutes drive :D

One of the goals last year was to raise funds from every state. We missed that goal by 13 states, but did get donations from two Canadian Provinces and Brazil!!!  But hopefully this year we can reach the goal of getting donations from every state.

For more information about the event, go to the Humane Society's webpage at: http://www.berkshumane.org/events/events_walk.asp

Last year over $100,000 was raised!  We want to help hit that again and we need your help to do it!  A staggering 56% of dogs and 71% of cats that enter animal shelters are euthanized. Only 15% of dogs and 2% of cats that enter animal shelters are reunited with their owners. Only 25% of dogs and 24% of cats that enter animal shelters are adopted. It is widely accepted that 9.6 million animals are euthanized annually in the United States. Help us help the humane society to get more animals homes instead of a needle!

Over the years you've helped this event go from a few hundred when we first started in 2003 to over 3500 walkers last year!!!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts.  Any amount, even a dollar, can really help the animals out.

If you can't donate, I strongly suggest you come out and take a look around.  Lots of food and vendors, and great music.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

If you don't feel comfortable donating online, you can send a check made out to the Humane Society of Berks County.  Email me at minksilvertree@yahoo.com and I'll send you our mailing address.
