Hi, my name is Shannon Bisel.  I have been a police officer for the City of Merriam, KS, for almost seven years.  While employed with the Police Department, I have had the opportunity to volunteer for numerous fundraising events to raise donations for Special Olympics Kansas.  I have also participated in the Kansas Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) since June 2001.  This is another event which raises funds to benefit Special Olympics.  I will again be participating in the Torch Run on May 27, 2008.

In addition to participating in the Torch Run this year, I also coordinated the annual Popcorn Stand-Off which was held at the Cinemark Theaters, 5500 Antioch, on March 8, 2008.  Officers worked behind the concession stand selling popcorn and the theater donated the proceeds from the popcorn sales to Special Olympics.  Between the proceeds from the sales and people's generous donations, we raised almost $2800 to benefit Special Olympics! The event was a success and I want to say THANKS to all of you who came out and showed your support.
