Shannon Lynch's Fundraising Page
Dear Friends and Family,
Fred Lebow, founder of the New York City Marathon once said, “Every jogger can't dream of being an Olympic champion, but he can dream of finishing a marathon." Friends, this is my dream. I am currently training for the ING NYC Marathon 2009 which will take place on November 1, 2009 and I have a lot of work to do before I get there!
Besides the personal challenge of preparing for a marathon, I have taken on the challenge of running for a cause – the homeless youth of New Jersey. As a member of Covenant House New Jersey’s Home Team, I have set a personal fundraising goal of $5,000. Please help me reach this goal by making a contribution. Anything you can give will bring me one step closer to reaching my goal!
Although running 26 miles might seem like an insurmountable challenge to some, it is minimal in comparison to the challenges a homeless teenager faces on the streets. Imagine not knowing where your next meal is coming from, or where you’ll spend the next night. No one should have to face these challenges, and especially not the young people in our local communities.
Each year, Covenant House New Jersey serves 2,000 homeless, runaway and at-risk youth between the ages of 18-21, first by fulfilling their immediate needs of food, shelter and clothing, and then by giving them the support they need to become self-sufficient and independent young adults. Covenant House has statewide residential programs that offer education, vocation, medical and legal services to the young people who walk through their doors. For more information about the work they do, please visit www.covenanthousenj.org.
This year, I will run for myself, and for the thousands of homeless young people who need my help to get off the street and on to a better life. If you wish to contribute by credit card, please let me know and I will note your pledge. I will have a website to support my fundraising efforts shortly. If you wish to pay be check or cash, please send your donation to Gina Butler (checks made payable to Covenant House New Jersey) at 330 Washington Street, Newark, New Jersey 07102 and note my name in your correspondence.

Thank you for helping me run to open doors for homeless youth!
Sincerely,
