Meet Cowboy!

 

 

He is a special boy that has and is going through a terrible time.  His daddy just died and his mom is grieving and doesn't want him around to remind him of her husband.  He has been banished outside and is very lonely.  He also has Valley Fever with open pustules on his head.  This family never vaccinated him and never got him neutered, so now we are faced with making sure he gets the proper veterinarian care that he needs and deserves.  He has only been on his valley fever meds for 3 months, then they removed him from the drug because they thought that he only needed 3 months of treatment.  His titer is 1:16 and he will need to be on the Fluconozal for probably up to a year to ensure that he gets over this disease.  He will also need to be on 200 mg of Vitamin C, 1000 mg of Fish oil, an immune supplement and Milk Thistle to protect his liver during the treatment.  A good quality food is recommended to ensure that he is getting all the right nutrition and a stable home environment.

 

 

Unfortunately his mom has no money and she has turned to us for help.  Her husband was the sole bread winner of the family and they did not have any life insurance.  Her only options are to euthanize him or turn him over to us.  We simply do not have the funds for the sustained and continuing treatment he needs, plus all the routine veterinarian care.  He needs to be neutered, vaccinated for Distemper/Parvo, vaccinated for Rabies, microchipped, dewormed, tested for heartworm and started on a heartworm preventative, tested for Valley Fever every 3-6 months to ensure that the treatments are working, provided with a high quality dog food and daily supplements.  All of this will run up to $1000 before he is ready for adoption.
