Barry's Team
My Angel Barry!
My beloved Brother, Barry David Brown, took his own life on March 29th, 2006. Recently, the granddaughters of a dear friend of mine, members of the Samaritans support group - a SafePlace in Medford, reached out to me in my despair and shame. They opened their hearts and invited me to the "Annual Breakfast of Hope". From the moment I walked in the door I knew I was in the right place. The kindness and thoughtfulness of all the people involved in the organization showed me such a warm welcome, and was so understanding of my PAIN, SADNESS, and even Shame. I know now I am not going to hide the shame, and instead try to reach out to others in Barry's name, and help others along the way.
Barry
Barry was a very loving, caring and giving individual, with such a generous heart, and so kind especially to those who were down on their luck. I know now, he could relate to the despair of people who were living without. For those of us who know Barry well, and those who did not, it would make him very PROUD, that we are trying to help save another individual’s life by participating in the Race/Walk and raising awareness for suicide prevention.
My Mission
This is our first 5K Race/ Walk! I hope with the help of many generous individuals and businesses we will be able to raise over $2,500 for the cause. We would love for everyone who can to join us this year in the Race/Walk or make a pledge to Barry’s Team. Through your support we will keep Barry's memory alive!
"Forever in my heart, My Angel!"
