My mother first began to show signs of Huntington's Disease when I was three years old and was lovingly placed in a nursing home, to insure she was given the proffesional and personal care that she so needed, when I was five. My father, sister, and I would visit her once or twice a month, while my great-grandmother and my grandfather would visit her nearly every day. When I was twelve she began to get worse and when I was thirteen my family made a very difficult, but caring descision to put her on hospice, and soon after she passed on. I am doing this walk for my mother, who was the most loving woman you could ever hope for, my younger sister, myself, and all others who have been cursed by this disease.
