It's Puzzle Walk time again!  Here it is time for our 5th Autism Walk.   Five years of walking to support the Autism Society and 5 years having the community around us grow closer and closer. Through all of our wonderful events our kids have grown familiar with each other and ultimately the families in our autism community have bonded and truly become one big family.

There is so much gained by this comradery because no one truly understands until they have walked in your shoes. It has been so comforting to be able to share stories and experiences with other parents who are navigating this journey called autism.

We have to be honest and admit that this was not the journey we imagined for our lives, our marriage or our children. Some days it feels like we are blasting forward strapped into a roller coaster going up, down, and even inside out at 80 miles per hour. Other days slow and steady wins the race. But one thing is for sure...this journey is never dull!

I know that this is the 5th year you are receiving this link and a request to support us. I am thrilled to report that our boys are doing well and that the Nebraska community is making progress. Unfortunately though there is still so much to do!

I'd like to issue a challenge. Pick a value...$1, $5, $10. Now think about your life. Count the people you know who are living with an autism diagosis in their family. Do you have a cousin with a child diagnosed with Aspergers? A coworker who has a son with PDD-NOS? Isn't there someone at your church that has a child with autism? What about your daughter's school? Isn't there a child in her class with an autism spectrum disorder? What about that boy you saw at the mall last week...didn't you catch yourself wondered if he might be a little on the autism spectrum?

Count them. You'll be amazed. 1 in 88 children today! How many do you know? I think you'll be startled when you do the math! Now I'd like to challenge you to donate $1 or $5 or $10 in honor of each of them.
