Shawn Shorrock's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for the Melanoma Research Foundation.
My husband - Matt - was diagnosed with stage IIb melanoma in June 2002 after a mole was removed from his left upper back. In November 2007, he had a tumor removed from his intestines and was then pronounced stage IV. Since then, he's had metastasis to his neck, brain, liver, pancreas and a variety of lymph nodes. He's currently undergoing IL-2 immunotherapy treatment and his mid-treatment scans showed that he is responding. We are optimistic that this treatment will knock this stuff out for good. He's also working extensively with a variety of alternate medicine practioners to make his body as inhospitable to cancer as possible.
Through everything, Matt has followed a simple set of principles - LIVE, LOVE, GIVE, FIGHT!!! He's living this every day and has shown me what it really means to do each of these things - he's amazing in every sense and I'm truly blessed to be his partner in life.
So, this is me fighting and giving and living and loving that I can. I hope you'll help us in this fight against this bloody awful disease. I'm training to run the Atlanta half marathon and then the Kiawah Island Half a few weeks later - both to increase awareness about Melanoma and raise money to support the Melanoma Research Foundation.
Over 90% of the funds raised will be invested in the Melanoma Research Foundation’s research programs, including direct support of scientists and researchers. Please see the link on this page for more information regarding the MRF.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Expect Greatness!
