Friends, it's been a good long run. I have served almost 6 years on the board of the Potter League, during which time the organization has raised millions in order to build the most amazing animal shelter you will ever see. Rooms, not cages, for our furry friends, access to real light, fresh air (yes, our cats have their own porch and our dogs their own private yards!). These animals are less stressed, healthier and more adoptable faster ... it's a win-win. This LEED-certified building is an example of how an institutional building can go green, and care for our environment as well as for our homeless animals.
Our bylaws dictate that I rotate off the board this October. This is the final time I will ask you, in my capacity as board president, to support the Potter League in its good works. The need is greater than ever. As I write this, even in the larger building, we are overflowing yet still committed to a happy ending for each unfortunate animal that finds its way to our doors.
