WILBUR'S STORY
We rescued Wilbur, an adorable three year-old Sharpei/Shepard mix, from the South L.A. Animal Care Center after seeing him curled up in a ball shaking for three days straight. It was obvious that Wilbur had been abused and not cared for. After seeing that adorable, smushy, beautiful face and seeing how sensitive he is, we just had to rescue him.
To make a long story short, Wilbur was so grateful to be out of the shelter with a huge smile on his face and lots of love to give, he was in a loving home for six months. As loving as he is, over the course of six months he has developed a fear of new situations, new people and kids. It's called fearful aggression. The family, though devastated, had to return him to me and it's now come to the point if he doesn't get help now, we would be confronted with the situation of euthanizing him. We can't place him in another family until he has been rehabilitated.
We contacted some of the bigger rescues and dog professionals in Los Angeles to find out what to do. Thankfully, many rescues recommended a well-known dog trainer that rehabilitates dogs that have been abused and can train them to be perfect, well-mannered dogs with a healthy and happy temperment. After speaking with trainer David Roe from Blue Dog Ranch, we were reassured and consoled that there is very much hope and life left for Wilbur and that his particular behavior that has developed. After this program, he will be able to be adopted into a loving family and will feel safe and secure in his environment.
Please help us send Wilbur to get the life-saving training he so desperately needs. He has already been through so much in his short life and he has so much life left to give.
The amount of the 3 week intensive training is $1850.00 and the rest is vet bills we have incurred along the way from Wilbur's fearful behavior. We have never been put in this position with any of the dogs we have rescued and would greatly appreciate your help at this time. This is Wilbur's only chance to live a healthy life.
