ABC Basset Hound Rescue Summer Fest 2011
Meet Duke....
Duke joined our family 2 years ago when he was 4 years old. We met and instantly fell in love with him when we visited Daphneyland in California while on vacation.
Duke was turned into a shelter with his buddy. Duke was deemed a "problem dog". What they didn't know about Duke was that he is deaf. The wonderful folks at Daphneyland gave Duke a chance. He was adopted out to a family who returned him after a year. Bad for Duke, but good for the Gordon's. He was returned because he was meant to be with us.
In the last 2 years, Duke has accomplished many things that you wouldn't think a deaf rescue dog (or any dog) would...
*Duke attends agility classes and has competed in "fun agility".
*Duke has his own line of biscuits, treats, wine, and mints at The Slobber Shoppe. Money raised goes to NY's homeless bassets.
*Duke is the currently the #1 Howler in NYS for the last 2 years. He is unbeatable.
*Duke is on the cover of Tom Schreck's book "Duffy to the Rescue". All proceeds from the book go to homeless bassets.
Besides these accomplishments, Duke's most important task to date was filling the hole in our hearts left by Doc.
Please consider sponsoring us for ABC's Summer Fest so that ABC Basset Hound Rescue can continue to help homeless dogs and turn them into the next amazing dog...like Duke.
