Once again I am running for a cause. What better marathon to run for children than the 15th Disney Marathon in Orlando, FL?
On January 13, 2008 I will be running 26.2/4+ hours to raise funds for the March of Dimes to prevent birth defects.
I have a goal of raising a grand total of $10,000 for March of Dimes with this marathon and with funds I raised at Grandma's Marathon in June 2006 (see www.firstgiving.com/sherryjoseph).
As parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends, we are always wishful for the healthy arrival of our little loved ones. The health of our children is something we may take for granted, but cherish more than anything. Our hearts go out to the tiny babies that are challenged from the moment of birth and to their families that care and nuture them through their complications. As a mother of five children, I feel a deep compassion for these families, as I am sure you do too.
I am the first to admit that I am NOT a natural born runner. I wish I could say that I will swiftly run the marathon without pain or fatigue, but that is soooo not true. I generally run for the love of running and the accomplishment for myself, but I feel that if others can benefit from my efforts in training and at the marathon, it will make the event so much more meaningful than miles.
So I humbly ask that you please consider making a donation, big or small, to help my mission. Also, as the holiday season approaches, many generously donate to worthy causes and I hope that you will consider my fundraiser for the March of Dimes. (Please email me at sherrjo@msn.com if you prefer to donate offline.)
Your generosity will not go unnoticed. As a token of my appreciation for your sponsorship, I offer you a commemorative magnet and also I will print your name (or family name or in memoriam wish) on the jersey I will wear as I run at Disney.
Thank you so much for visiting my website!
Godspeed,
Sherry Atienza Joseph

MARCH OF DIMES MISSION STATEMENT:
Our mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality. We carry out this mission through research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies' lives. March of Dimes researchers, volunteers, educators, outreach workers and advocates work together to give all babies a fighting chance against the threats to their health: prematurity, birth defects, low birthweight
Thanks for you support. March of Dimes needs you to prevent birth defects and I need your support to get through the marathon.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
