Thank you for visiting the Harvard Men's Soccer Junior Class' Fundraising Page!
We are proud to be raising funds for Coaches Across Continents, a non-profit organization determined to improve the quality of life for poverty-stricken children across the World.
Coaches Across Continents does not just temporarily relieve the children in poor countries of their everyday sufferings but inspires hope for a better future through education. Using soccer as the medium from which to educate, children are taught to respect themselves, and the rights of others, giving them the chance for a better life.
The program that we are specifically raising funds for is the Goals4Leaders program. What this program does is to train coaches, including Harvard soccer players and alums, and sends them to impoverished communities to teach valuable life lessons, such as how to avoid contracting AIDS and malaria, through the powerful medium of soccer. The program becomes self-sustaining as the coaches train local teachers and community leaders to run the programs they have started helping the community improve in the long run.
In 2008, teachers from 73 countries asked about the unique soccer educational programs at www.coachesacrosscontinents.com. We need your help to work with teachers and children in these developing countries. In 2009, we have added 4 new countries as part of our Hat-Trick Initiative and with your help we can work with more in 2010. We ask you to "Get Involved".
We hope that you will help us reach our target of raising $350 per goal we score this upcoming 2009 NCAA Division I soccer season by making a donation. Last year our team scored 36 goals, a feat which we are hoping to improve on this year. If we match our goal total from last year we will raise $13000 for this great program.
Also, although our team is working together to raise funds, we would like to see which class can raise the most. If you are considering making a donation we would greatly appreciate if you made it on our site.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
