Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page! On June 26, I will be participating in the Philadelphia Triathlon Sprint race. I will be racing with the Bladder Cancer Cure Team on behalf of the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) to raise funds in an effort to increase awareness about bladder cancer, provide educational and support services for the bladder cancer community, and advance bladder cancer research.
As you may know Bladder Cancer is a under recognized cancer so racing for this cause is very important to me.
You may not know that:
- Bladder cancer is the 5th most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S. It is 4th most common among men (after prostate, lung and colon) and 11th among women.
- In 2009, it is estimated that almost 71,000 new cases of bladder cancer will be diagnosed and more than 14,000 people will die from the disease.
- There are more than 500,000 bladder cancer survivors in the U.S.
Donating through BCAN’s First Giving Web site is simple and completely secure. It is also the most efficient way to support BCAN’s triathlon fundraising efforts. Thank you in advance for your support – and don’t forget to forward this to anyone who may also want to get involved!
